Riopar´s Industrial Heritage Friends NET: Business involved in Industrial Heritage conservation

The following facilities (rural restaurants, hostels, rural houses, bronze and wood artisans...)
actively support the conservation and spread of the Industrial Heritage of Riópar.
Click on the name of the business to go to their websites....
Come by! They have a lot to offer.

It's a company that does smelting and bronze and brass handcrafted pieces, specialized in the lost wax technique. Following up the metallurgical tradition of Riópar, their masters continue making precious models and molds of the 19th century, and they also design new pieces. Their store is a must see and it is located nearby the Museum in Juan Jorge Graubner street.

High quality local products, traditional mountain food, with the unmistakable flavor of the good live grills. It's located right in the middle of town, and the decoration counts on old crucibles used years ago to fuse traditional metals and other traditional aperos. It has got disabled access, air conditioned and a massive terrace. The rural houses are  old houses that belonged to the Factory workers, right in the middle of the historical complex.

The center of Environmental Education La Dehesa gives you the chance to observe some of the most representative animals of the Iberian fauna within its original environment, in a very friendly, relaxed way. There are, among others, wolves, mouflons (Corsican wild sheeps), foxes, wild boars, red deers... Many activities are availabe: horse routes, educative hiking, archery, 4 wheel routes, workshops… Pretty cabins immersed in the forest are also available.

Rural stay, to make you feel home in the heart of nature.  It is located in the old shooting range which belonged to the metallurgical industry of "San Juan de Alcaraz", in the middle of the valley. There are a number of nature activities to be done.
This company does sand smelting, bronze and brass crafts. They follow up mastering the tradition of the Factories of "San Juan de Alcaraz", using century-long techniques. It is possible to arrange visits to see the amazing spectacle of the artisan smelting, just contacting the Tourism office and Riópar museum in advance.

Delicious handmade ice cream can be tasted here; in the same place where ages ago the worker union of the metallurgical industry of San Juan de Alcaraz was located. Today, the building looks like a very peculiar castle which you will find near by the museum.

This beautiful hostel is located right in the middle of town, within the old houses that belonged to factory workers in Jardines Street. The hostel has got a room with fully equipped bathroom and disabled access. It is a place commited to social justice and environment, having installed solar pannels (for hot water) and solar PV (for electricity).  For that reason the hostel has been awarded in 2011 with the prize to the best company in quality investment, environmental policies and sustainable development by the "Federación Castellano-manchega de Turismo Rural" (Castilla- La Mancha association for rural tourism).

Hostel, charming rooms and rural houses in a very quiet area with beautiful views within the village. The oldest laundry in Riópar is located within this facilities, with cool fresh water. In the summertime you can pick a rainbow trout from there and you get it cooked for dinner!

Located within the 18th century-alike building that was the "Reales Fábricas de San Juan de Alcaraz" manager's office years ago, the restaurant offers traditional dishes cooked with care. There are also and rural houses, and on the first florr of this building a peculiar store is located, just where the house that belonged to the founder of the factories (Juan Jorge Graubner) used to be.  You can walk through the living room, the dining area and the chambers...and take it (almost) all!

In order to know it all about Riópar... Historical information about its industrial heritage is included, paying special attention to the intangible material, histories compiled, images and music from Riópar Factories.

Tronkasa takes advantage of the resources that nature provides ... Sustainability is the culture that impregnates the working methods and the beauty of the pieces they produce: Unique lamps, mirrors, furniture and sculptures carved from wood from ancient grapevine roots, no longer fruitful for the land.

Taberna de los Vientos
Located in a privileged place, from the terrace you can see the Padrón and Padroncillo mountains, the old Riópar and the Almenara peak... three individual dining halls, rustically decorated with great care. The cuisine is tradition rooted while creative, cooked slowly on the fire... They also organize field trips with an experienced truffle master: as they call it, let´s do gastrosenderismo!
