It's a company that does
smelting and bronze and brass handcrafted pieces, specialized in the lost wax
technique. Following up the metallurgical tradition of Riópar, their masters
continue making precious models and molds of the 19th century, and they also
design new pieces. Their store is a must see and it is located nearby the
Museum in Juan Jorge Graubner
street .
High quality local products,
traditional mountain food, with the unmistakable flavor of the good live
grills. It's located right in the middle of town, and the decoration counts on
old crucibles used years ago to fuse traditional metals and other traditional
aperos. It has got disabled access, air conditioned and a massive terrace. The
rural houses are old houses that belonged to the Factory workers, right
in the middle of the historical complex.
The center of
Environmental Education La
Dehesa gives you the chance to observe some of the most
representative animals of the Iberian fauna within its original environment, in
a very friendly, relaxed way. There are, among others, wolves, mouflons
(Corsican wild sheeps), foxes, wild boars, red deers... Many activities are
availabe: horse routes, educative hiking, archery, 4 wheel routes, workshops…
Pretty cabins immersed in the forest are also available.
Rural stay, to make you
feel home in the heart of nature. It is
located in the old shooting range which belonged to the metallurgical industry
of "San Juan de Alcaraz", in the middle of the valley. There are a
number of nature activities to be done.
This company does sand smelting, bronze
and brass crafts. They follow up mastering the tradition of the Factories of
"San Juan de Alcaraz", using century-long techniques. It is possible
to arrange visits to see the amazing spectacle of the artisan smelting, just
contacting the Tourism office and Riópar museum in advance.
Delicious handmade ice
cream can be tasted here; in the same place where ages ago the worker union of
the metallurgical industry of San Juan de Alcaraz was located. Today, the
building looks like a very peculiar castle which you will find near by the
museum.
This
beautiful hostel is located right in the middle of town, within the old houses
that belonged to factory workers in Jardines
Street . The hostel has got a room with fully
equipped bathroom and disabled access. It is a place commited to social justice
and environment, having installed solar pannels (for hot water) and solar PV
(for electricity). For that reason the
hostel has been awarded in 2011 with the prize to the best company in quality
investment, environmental policies and sustainable development by the
"Federación Castellano-manchega de Turismo Rural" (Castilla- La Mancha association for
rural tourism).

The oldest laundry in Riópar is located within this facilities, with cool fresh
water. In the summertime you can pick a rainbow trout from there and you get it
cooked for dinner!
Located within the 18th
century-alike building that was the "Reales Fábricas de San Juan de
Alcaraz" manager's office years ago, the restaurant offers traditional
dishes cooked with care. There are also and rural houses, and on the first
florr of this building a peculiar store is located, just where the house that
belonged to the founder of the factories (Juan Jorge Graubner) used to be. You can walk through the living room, the dining
area and the chambers...and take it (almost) all!
